Our Philosophy
Heritage Financial Recovery Services provides accounts receivable management and commercial collection services based on the principals of responsiveness to client needs, safeguard of their reputations and empathy and respect for those in debt. With this crafted approach we achieve maximum financial recovery for our clients and help those experiencing financial difficulty avoid deeper problems and begin to reestablish their financial footing.
Successful debt collection begins with an understanding of those in trouble. Debt is often the result of life-altering events – such as loss of a family member, unemployment, illness, accident or divorce.
At Heritage Financial Recovery Services we have a team of professionals who empathize with those in debt and show them solutions they may not see – such as payment plans, settlements and hardship programs. We remove the stigma of debt and allow the consumer to see a dignified path forward.
Elizabeth Clifford – President
Elizabeth Clifford has nearly 40 years working in the credit and collection industry, although her experience with collections actually began at age 10 when she had a paper route and occasionally faced nonpayment for delivery. It was then she learned about catching more flies with honey than vinegar, a philosophy that rests at the core of Heritage Financial Recovery Services' success today. Elizabeth came to Heritage Financial in 1977 and by 1988 had become President. Under her leadership the firm's list of clients grew to include some of the largest financial institutions in the area.
Elizabeth is a nationally recognized businesswoman and leader in the credit and collection industry. She serves on the Board as a trustee of the New Jersey Association of Collection Agencies and is a former board member of ACPAC, the political action committee of ACA International. She successfully lobbied for resolution of a bill stalled in Congress with significant impacts on the credit and collection industry and remains current with federal and state laws and pending legislation important to the industry.
Passionate about supporting the community, Elizabeth created the Quest for Excellence scholarship that each year goes to a local senior in high school heading to college. She founded the Turning the Tide hurricane relief fund following Hurricane Sandy and enlisted support from collection agencies throughout New Jersey and the nation to raise more than $35,000 to assist two families from the devastated Union Beach township. Under Elizabeth's leadership, Heritage Financial supports a number of other charitable and community causes, as well (see our Community Support page).
While there have been many changes in the credit and collection industry during the course of Elizabeth's career, her focus has remained the same – to create mutually beneficial long-term relationships with her clients while maintaining the integrity and dignity of all involved. Under her leadership Heritage Financial Recovery Services has become a collection agency like no other.
When not working, Elizabeth enjoys spending time with her family and friends.
